Do you want to go back in time, buy an island,  and live without running water and electricity and fish and garden and tend to chickens and rabbits and pick mangoes and coconuts and pineapples and live at the equator where the weather is perfect year-round? I listed this in the bahamas as I’m hoping that’s the area where we can go – maybe off the coast of honduras or something.

I’m more concerned with sea level rise, thinking that something like Balliceaux Island would be a better option. It is for sale and it is in the Caribbean but it cost an awful lot. The reason being it has a high elevation point on both ends. So I already have more than enough to chip in, let me know if you decide to pick something other than lowland islands.

I agree that it should be an island with an elevation of at least 200 – 500 ft. But that island is 320 acres for $30,000,000. I was thinking more like a 30-50 acre island for maybe 1 – 2 million. And if 20 or more families each pitch in 50-100 thousand for island and boat, it will take time to find that many people willing to go in together. I’m not sure where else to advertise this idea to find others interested in the idea. Any suggestions?

hi there, am writing you regarding buying an island in the caribbean or somewhere in the world with tropical weather, coral reefs with shinny days all year around, transparent clear waters, similar to the island showed in the movie “the beach” (2000 directed by donny boyle), i do not have the money to buy it by myself, so i invite you or anyone interested in buy and live in a tropical island… the idea is to buy it for less than 400k usd, divided in 20 persons, that is 20k usd for person, very affordable, the idea is to have people from all continents, to form and international comunity of stress free, drugs free, ansiety free individuals, cultivate and hunt our own food, if interested please write me back hugomejia.hdz@hotmail.com today is 2017 i will wait until 2021 to save the money and find the members. i guess 25k per person would be ok, 5k to buy or build a boat and get construction materials, tools to build in the island. i have found islands of 90 acrees, big enough for 20 persons. regards.

I’m concerned about the nuclear meltdown happening in Japan and how it’s negatively affecting the ocean and the fish – I would like to be able to fish from the ocean, and I’m not sure they’re going to be able to get that under control. We may need more than 20,000 per person and will have to buy a good boat – that will cost some money too. But I agree with everything Hugo said. I’m the one that posted the original post asking if others want to go in together.
