[before_listing id=150 images=http://www.www.off-grid.net/wp-content/uploads/679ec930caea99d37658afadf3f27bfb.jpg] I’d like to be a little bit less dependent on the power company. I don’t own my own home but I have lots of space and live in a very sunny area. Is there a portable-ish solar solution? Something I could use to power a few things 9 month of the year? I have a camper/RV equipped with 90W of solar panels. I carry them in the van and set whenever I need them.

If you have a lot of free time you can be a “human solar tracker”. ;) But first question you need to ask yourself is what do you need this solar power for?

To spend some quality free time off-grid? Then buy a RV/camper, install batteries, charge controller and inverter and then install the solar PV panels.

You could build a frame on a couple of pallets to mount some solar panels as I have done. Not as portable as a trailer, but it could be mounted on a trailer.
