[before_listing images= youtube=null] Hello, everyone! I am 30 years old and for the last few years I have moved closer and closer to being self-sustained. As anyone who has tried knows, it is a long and difficult process to pull away from the “mainstream”. After a lot of time and effort, I feel I am ready to go off the grid. I am single however, and the idea of trying to go off the grid all by myself seems like a daunting notion. I am looking for some like-minded individuals to help get a start, or an existing community to be a part of.

A little about myself – I have a college education (not that it can help specifically, just so you know I can learn and that I am dedicated). I have a great deal of construction experience (concrete, carpentry, painting, building in general). I am very fit and hard working. I can grow just about anything. I currently grow my own parsley, basil, oregano, cilantro, bell peppers, cucumbers, broccoli, tomatoes, dandelion, squash, oranges, strawberries, melon etc, etc… I am a professional scuba diver by trade (instructor/divemaster/photographer/videographer)and I barter my services for just about everything.

I’m am spiritual but not religious…frankly I don’t care what you believe as long as you’re not insisting I believe the same. I will of course, give you the same courtesy. I love music and play a few instruments. I have a dog and a cat…both of which are very well behaved and easy to maintain (where I go, they go =)). I love nature and have great passion for it. I’m fairly knowledgeable of the wilderness. I cook, clean and consider myself a responsible person. I love people, but truly feel society as a whole has been herded into an unnatural state of being. I think there are many people who feel the same.

I have a great deal of life experience and there is so much more to tell. I would love to get to know you, too! Please feel free to contact me if you think you would be interested in brainstorming… or if you feel like you have somewhere I may be able to contribute. I think a solid, realistic plan is a great place to start. Thank you and PEACE! [landbuddy_listing youtube=null]

My name is Page. I am a 24 year old male Marine.
The good news: I have 21 acres in the mountains in New Mexico, Well drained, almost a mile above sea level, 30% wooded, relatively flat, beautiful, mild climate. Great growing season.
The Bad News: I have 3.5 more years on my Marine contract in which I will not be able to begin construction on my land.

I am looking for someone to work with on my parcel. Hopefully get some things like planting/clearing trees started before I get there. I do not have on site water but there is a guy with a well half a mile down the road that sells it pretty cheaply and rain is 15″ a year so with the right setup, you can get all youll need.

I have a full design and layout ready for me when I get out. It has been 2 years in the making. That said, It only requires me to have about 8 Acres. another 7 Acres will be wooded (I cant stand not having woods nearby.) This leaves about 6 acres unaccounted for. Now If done efficiently, we could share the same agricultural/ livestock space and keep the 6 acres wild. I dont mind this.

What I would need: I need someone on site to start basically practicing good husbandry and landkeeping. With proper animal care, crop growing, and maintenance, I think that the land could see yields well beyond my needs. Therefore, Im not opposed to sharing. I can discuss all plans with you at length and you can set up your own establishment, as well as start cultivating land. When I get there, I can build my own shelter (will probably need a hand) and then we work together on the land. The time before I get there, the land would be free use to you as long as you are continuing to work on it towards the common plans we’ve discussed. In approx 3.5 years when I arrive, I will be there to exchange help, knowledge, and resources. At this point I will charge rent based on the land you are using as your own. (depending on size $100-1000 a month) This rate is negotiable and can be decided before or after I arrive.

If you are interested, I will give you some pictures of what I am working on as well as a rough outline of whats going on and we can discuss it further.
Things to note, I plan on having kids, pigs, a dairy cow, chickens. I am libertarian, christian, and not a hippy. Just cheap. I am an Eagle Scout, Marine, and used to teach wilderness survival. I know quite a bit about a lot of things. I am an old fashioned guy just looking to raise a family to read books, play outside on nice days and play board games together on rainy days. I hate desk jobs and being indoors.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I currently have 160 acres of land in NW Nevada…flat land…only missing well and people. I’m working on the funding for a solar well, but I cannot say from my life that money is no object. I am posting this info in hopes of forming a strong and dedicated group to help get this rolling. Check out the website….email me….let’s make our future together off-grid.

Hi from Florida….Bob here….the dream of off gridding is fine…..but in my area….local officials want to know your business……the only option is to hide like a fugitive in a national forest , or remote state land , or a better option locate an area that you like , by a stream or lake , research the property appraiser’s web site and contact the owner and work out a trade.

Now if your community wanted to buy land , or just your self…you will be on their radar , with , Deed recordings and other legal paper work and property tax mailings …..they will know who you are and where you live…..every 5 years they are required to visit your property for a new assessment ……..for me this is the way it is in Flagler county and other parts of the good old sunshine state .

    I have 10 acres….my semi-off-grid-farm…legally growing Tilapia and organic gardening….and still 3years later fighting with … code and County……would enjoy chating with you…..want a visit……. bob ….

I’m 21 year old lone wolf that needs to free myself completely. Basically I want to go to some place in the tropics in south America maybe Colombia, anywhere that doesn’t get cold. I don’t wanna go alone but I think a crew would be great. I got nothing to lose except my life so it’s time to shine. All I can offer is a helping hand and a free loving spirit so I want to assemble a team no more then 13 and get out of the USA before it’s too late this country is sick and corrupt. I choose freedom and the USA is lacking this. I refuse to conform to society and be a slave. email me if your down to go cuz I want and probably need a crew. Peace and love to all but mainly the enlightened souls cuz they already know :)

    Hi Everyone
Though I only live off the grid at times, because it is so lovely, I am doing it more and more. Good to hear so many others are interested. I;d say go for it.

    Hello All!

A plan is starting to take shape for myself. I will be leaving to travel the country in January 15′. There is no specific duration or destination. I will be looking for communities to get involved with through folks I have met, and/or finding a place to start building on my own.

I will have the needed supplies to not only survive on the trip, but keep us connected to those we want and be completely comfortable along the way.

I would love to dialogue more with you guys (or any others) who think they would like to be involved. Please feel free to email me at

I am happy to see there are many of us out there. These are the first steps to freedom. I completely agree with everything everyone has to say and would love to be part of that lifestyle. It is a huge leap to take but something tells me it is the right path. There are reasons why we are over worked and kept busy. Most people are thoughtless drones who just follow trends and will never see truth. Not that I have really seen hard concrete truth but I do feel the need to step out of this reality. This may be the only way out. As human beings we have lost all power and knowledge of reality. We gave up our right to be free and grow from within. The days of light will shine upon us all and it is people like you who will take us there. Go out there and do it. Make it happen. There must be a reason so many movies, songs and shows point out that there is something else out there. Our imagination and creativity are part of our spirit which must be tired of the same cycle repeating over and over. The same story every time. And when we hit the end nature just hits the rewind button. There must be change. Only the actions of those strong willed will change our future. Maybe in the next hundred years we will be reborn free. Free mind body and spirit. If anyone has seen past the actual grid contact me. There is another world out there. Then again many things have led me to believe that until we don’t learn that certain lesson we will never reach that next level/dimension. Whatever I’m getting off topic. You can contact me at

Hi everyone! I share your interests for homesteading/off the grid lifestyle. I will be volunteering on organic farms this summer in order to learn more and I am searching for like-minded people to maybe build a community or buying lots of lands in group later on. You can contact me at It could be good to build a newsletter or a forum of some sort.

  11. Natassa78

I would love to be part of a off grid community please contact me at, peace and love.

  12. JESS

I am also 30 years old and becoming more and more unsatisified with the life that I am living. All work and no play makes Jess an unhappy girl. I feel like the “system” of working just to afford living is out of control. We have a very comfortable life and 2 beautiful sons, I just feel like i am lacking. My soul is not complete. I want to run barefoot and free with no strings or ties to hold us down. How do i uproot my family from everything that they know, just so I can feel at peace? Kudos friend, for realizing what you want and taking the steps to go for it! I applaud all of you for being braver than I!

  13. Caroline

Hey there. I have recently been looking into a road less traveled type of lifestyle, all of your ideas seem to be on the same track as mine. Although I am not quite there I would love to hear from any of you on how you got started and what has kept you going. I’d love to learn as much as possible. I don’t see myself staying in this endorsed world for much longer, it great to hear that others are on the same page as myself. I’d love to hear from any of you.

  16. ArkyLady

Hi NOZZ! It’s so nice to come here and find other people who have similar goals as myself! I have also been working towards a freegan lifestyle the last year or so, it’s more difficult than it should be.

I did move to a primitive cabin in the woods last August. It had been abandoned for several years and needed a lot of work just to be livable again. I ran out of money in the middle of the harsh winter, so decided to go to Texas to work for a few months and I’ll be heading back to the cabin in the next month or so.

I am also single and that does make things more difficult. I have had zero luck finding anyone who truly wants the same lifestyle I want. Some like the idea of homesteading, but to really give up money? It’s a hard sell LOL!

Best of luck to you! And you too Nicholas! I’m always looking for like-minded friends, there aren’t many of us around. If you want to talk more, feel free to email me

    Love and Light! :)

  17. Nicholas

    Hello NOZZ,
We share the same dream. I am in the same spirit and mind set. I also understand this task can not be done alone. I almost tried it about a year ago. However I am gearing up and training myself in everything I can. I am 28 and like you I am single with a simple life. I seek to completely rid myself of the need of money and to live as the Native Americans did. I currently live in Seattle Washington and love the Northwest. I like the taiga landscape and think it would make a good choice for off the gird living. Plenty of resources and most importantly lots of clean water. I would like to start correspondents with you. I would like to share thoughts and ideas and maybe even start building a friendship and trust. I have started to reach out to like mind individuals. Together we can build our own world free of the enslaving dollar. Please feel free to contact me

    Thank you for your time.
