I’ve been reading up about potential blackouts if the UK grid can’t support the demand in the future – supposedly 2015-2016. I’d like to take my reliance off the national grid, but realise that this might lead to intermittent energy supply if I rely on wind and solar. (I want to be as super-green as possible).

Will I just have to get used to these changes or can anyone offer any advice? Should I prepare for other eventualities like not having as much power available, or expect times when I might have to go without sometimes?

    Thanks
