Wikepedia in discussing the US national debt states that by 2030 the US will only be able to pay its mandatory government bills of social security and Medicare/Medicaid and will have to raise all other spending through debt. This won’t happen. The US owes 59 trillion when such liabilities are included. Thats currently £560,000 per head of US population.
The US WILL DEFINITELY have to default at some time on its debt or have some sort of period equivalent to a national emergency or martial law or devalue the dollar by stealth. Either scenario means it won’t be able to afford commodities from outside its borders or sphere of military influence, and even in that sphere it would have to flout Universal Commercial Code, essentially by extracting tribute by force.
We would likely see some sort of militarised state in the USA, if only to run Cuban style food distribution supply chains. The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 has restricted the use of the military within US borders to assist law enforcement agencies but attempts have been made to amend this act thankfully mostly thrown out by the Supreme Court. However after 9/11 Northern Command was created to deal with internal terrorism on 1st October 2002 and on Oct. 1, 2008, the 3rd Infantry Division (United States)’s 1st Brigade Combat Team was assigned to U.S. Northern Command, marking the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to Northern Command
