I own some land in the Brecon Beacons National Park which has a couple of ruined cottages on it, last lived in about 35 years ago. The Park authorities will not allow re-building as there was an application made some years ago.

Is a caravan the answer or are there other solutions? The land is ideal for off-grid living as it is windy and there is a spring on site.

Have you considered just moving in, living there and applying for retrospective planning permssion?
