i’m thinking to buy some land and live off grid but have no experience on the necessary jobs that need to be done to set it up. i’m just exploring the possibility of sharing the land i will buy with someone that have skills to help me build. if you interested, let me know your ideas. i’m still at the very beginning of the process. i’m just exploring ideas. the ultimate goal would be to be fully self sufficient and be surrounded by like minded persons. we all seen the movie “into the wild” so we know happiness only real when shared.
My name is Ian
I’m in Glasgow.
I’m currently working (head gardener) with a charity organisation, but my main background is landscaping/building. I’m not very good at mechanical stuff of off grid energy stuff though youtube helps with that. I’ve also set up a lot of community projects over the years so i know quite a bit about that side of things.
I bought a campervan a year ago with the idea of setting off and visiting a lot of off grid communities but it turned out to be a wreck so i lost money on it and i’m now saving to get something else.
Where were you thinking of heading to?
nice to hear from you, i’m thinking of buying a forest in sweden. 5 or 6 hectares …near a lake so i can fish and hunt and spend zero money to live. ( well zero is impossible…but as little as possible) i was hoping to get there this summer but i think its too late now. got to wait april next year and in the mean time i try to build up knowledge and some like minded people. i think this is a game of patience and networking..we need to stay in touch every now and then and lets see how it goes. also i was thinking of a possible issue which could arise and i have no idea how to solve it….lets say me and you get along here on the internet and we decide to start building in the forest together…what will happen if we then end up fighting? you helped me building up the site but the land is mine. its an issue because i have the moral obligation to compensate you for your time and work it can just turn out nasty…like a marriage :-) hehehe
what do you think about it?
thanks for contacting me
