I live in the uk and I would like to start collecting broken pallets to use as firewood, but would like to be armed with the right license/permission.

i am looking to approach small business that have a problems disposing of them.

has anyone had experience with this.

    thanks, greenlegs

Most pallets have been treated with various inorganic preservatives, which mean that they are not the most healthy things to burn. I wouldn’t even use the ash residue on my garden.

At the moment I’m paying £19 for 1/2 ton of oak off-cuts from my local saw mill. Much better than the pallets. Have a look in the Yellow pages for your nearest saw mill – it might work out to be the cheapest option.
