Hi All – Some friends and I have recently purchased a cabin on stilts. This cabin sits on very small  island in a tidal river and the island occasionally floods (hence the stilts). The cabin has no running water, no electricity and no toilet. We are looking at tidal and/or solar to generate electricity, purification of river water and/or rainwater collection BUT are very confused by what to do on the toilet front. Your help would be much appreciated.

Hi, how about a composting toilet? You can go with a commercial version or a homemade bucket system…

build a septic thats a mound of its own, above highwater. plant it to flowers and grass and use it for a sled hill or play area for the kids. just cover the slopes wit lots of rock
