Van is taxed (165 per year) and is insured as a Motorhome (253 per year), and parked in locked compound which can be rented by the new owner (Waterlooville) needs MOT.
I phoned a Renault truck MOT place, asking regarding downplating & conversion MOT and they said conversion to a Motorhome / MOT for it is pretty straight forward IF Bed, Kitchen, etc are in place and the furniture is not removable. It’s a Class 4 MOT (instead of Class 7).
I could have booked a MOT straight away but I have other things on my plate right now (as since 1 year) and also think it would be better to put a mattress into the bed area, attaching the closet doors, putting a cut-to-size-foam on the sofa plus some nice fabric on top; also tidying up a bit.
I might do that this month to see myself how it works out, then the price will be higher of course. I simple haven’t got enough time and peace at the moment – if someone looks for a conversion like this you are very welcome, and I’m happy to let it go right now.
What’s more to write: Lots of storage space in cupboards/cabinets/under stairs/underneath bathroom(removable panels) 2 huge side Barn Doors, 2 back doors (Motorbike / Bicycle loading) allowing maximum Outdoor experience if parked somewhere in the green; if in town it simply looks like a big Luton van. Tinted Windows can be added of course if you wish to do so; in the bunk area over the wheelhouse for example.
Off-Grid ready;enough space under the floor for a battery bank, water tanks, Diesel Heating etc, hidden behind side skirts (this provides more utility space than drop-well or low-loader Luton vans)
Prepared for difficult terrain, twin back wheels, new front tires. It starts & drives, but needs a wash and has no MOT yet as this is best done together with the Registration-conversion to a Campervan, and down-plating to 3,5t to increase speed limit.
Reason for selling is simply change of life plans & other projects. Viewing during the week after 4pm until 9pm or weekends if I’m not away.
Any questions please ask…
