With hiking trails as close as the end of the driveway, you are only a few steps away from sojourns into the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness Area with its 11,000 to 14,000 foot peaks. Whether it’s challenging backcountry or gentle cross country, the ski trail options are abundant. Summer has plenty to offer as well, with trout fishing, canoeing on nearby Beaver Lake or bagging brag-worthy 14’ers. Located in the Crystal River Valley, the cabin is situated ideally for day trips to the quaint towns of Marble and Redstone, and is a little over 60 miles from Aspen.

4WD vehicles required year round. Chains may be helpful in winter months.

Take a one hour four-wheel drive ride from the cabin along with a hour hike to Geneva Lake, or hike up Carbonate Creek trail, just a few feet from the cabin, to discover a spectacular valley full of wildflowers. Both options offer views, flowers and wildlife spottings that any aspiring nature photographer will be eager to capture. For a longer expedition, cabin owner Scott also has a guide permit for the White River National Forest, and is happy to lead overnight camping trips to his favorite high mountain lake spots.
