I live and work in Shannon but have a house in Mayo I aim to go offgrid with by 2020.

I started a blog some time ago http://kilnageer.blogspot.ie/ and would like to link up with people in order to make the project as successful as possible and to maintain my enthusiasm. I haven’t blogged since 2012!

Are you also fed up with Ireland’s lack of PV microgeneration support and would like top be in control of your fuel bills?

It’s looking at the latest CSO figures for 2015 and earlier showing that 11,000 Ktoe is used and inported with less than 1/1000 of our needs coming from solar (i.e.12Ktoe). Not that we produce much anyway 2,000 Ktoe. That has fired me up again! (see http://www.cso.ie/px/pxeirestat/pssn/sei/Database/SEI/Energy%20Balance%20Statistics/Energy%20Balance%20Statistics.asp 1 ktoe = 11630000 kWh)

So let’s work together and come up with a well documented, step by step guide to inspire people! I would also love to visit other people’s systems as have them visit mine!

Kind Regard

Tony Walsh

Ha. I’ve got bits and pieces in Mayo. But nowadays I live in Clare. But I’m hopefully Mayo can be a test bed for my sister who may very well go off grid in a few years Keiron. How are things with yourself? :) Tony
