This is a ten-minute tutorial on how to use car batteries for emergency welding.
In this particular example the welding is done using three twelve volt batteries connected in series. This practice is not good for the batteries but may get you out of trouble in an emergency situation. Also where do you get three batteries? Worst case scenario- you rent a car from Hertz for a day – you can ruin their battery.

I don’t know why you would tell people that it ruins the batteries withou knowing what you are talking about. It doesn’t. I’ve used this method several times for field fixes on the farm. Most of us own more than 3 batteries. Usually have to run home for rods, helmet etc. anyway. Also, wrecking someone elses battery says a lot about you.
