Update: Spring has sprung. We’ve added another horse, a couple more goats, kittens, more chickens, etc., etc. Bandsaw mill is up and running. Lots to do… Come on by and lend a hand.

My BFF lives in Missoula and another friend is already into sugar beets as fuel. There are 3 others, willing to work and learn. My ultimate goal may not be an investment in your off the grid project buy in my own, albeit I still need the hands on experience. Sick of Florida and the corexit. 20 rhumstruck { 09.09.12 at 12:21 pm }: How are things going at Pooh Corners? From your blog it looks like a relativly well going farm. I am planning to move off-grid by the spring of 2013. I have been looking at land in Colorado, but family is concerned that I will somehow disappear living along 15-20 miles from the next human. That is understandable, because I am a 55 year old widower recently retired and living on a fairly comfortable pension. I have experience in electrical plumbing and general construction since I have spent most of my adult life in the construction industry.

24 Alix McKenna { 11.15.12 at 4:23 pm }: I have 6 years experience as a vet tech. I’ve trained horses, raised chickens, and know how to handle a hammer, saw, etc. Montana sounds heavenly. I was exposed to sixteen years of emergency food, domestic lifestyle and cook from scratch. I can be a fantastic leader or an equally fantastic follower. Proficient in first aid, not squeamish to tackle blood and wounds, and a marksperson with 12 gauge or a .22.
