30 acres small community seeks new members
by PAGAN DREAMER on NOVEMBER 3, 2011 - 14 Comments in I AM OFF GRID AND I WANT OTHERS TO JOIN ME

Greetings,

We have 30 acres with a barn, outbuildings and more. We have a 2 story old farm house with a couple bedrooms available. We are building a green house, raise goats, getting chickens and more. We clean hud houses for money to pay the mortgage etc. We also sell firewood, make crafts for the flea market and ebay.

We want to have a small community that is like an extended family. We are Pagan and Poly. We are not looking to be saved or change our religion. We do not want to change your religion. We want people to help us convert to off grid living and get the gardens and green houses, fish and orchard going. We want to celebrate holidays as group, eat meals as a group.

We do not want anyones money. We want to share the love of the land and the natural way of life we are building. We are in Hutchinson, KS area. Contact us by phone or email phone 316-371-5732.

We also have cats and dogs and they are part of the family and no one will mistreat them. You do not have to hold them or pet them but will not be mean to them. Some of us are vegetarian and some are not. No hunting is allowed on the 30 acres but there are many places to do that if you want to.

We also have a seasonal creek and will be putting in a pond and so muchg more. Looking for people now to be here and celebrate the Holidays and get things going.

Hello,my name is Todd I am currently looking for a community to join into.I feel i have several things to offer such a group.my skills include Framer, almost anything involved in building construction, also a fairly competent mechanic. I have grew up in the country so not afraid of a little hard work,i also have a love of the outdoors and have a great respect for it. My reason for wanting to go off the grid is simple I feel the quality of life in modern society to be seriously lacking.Would like to hear alittle more on your community feel free to contact me at mojaverida@yahoo.com put off grid in title please. I will also add i am a decent artist and have a green thumb.

Hey, I have had a vision to do something like this for quite sometime so today when my professor asked what we would do if we knew we couldn’t fail I thought of this. I looked it up on youtube and found this website. I think my vision is slightly different than what you people have been describing but it is similar. My vision is this: Erect my own house out of wood, and build a community. My problem is that I do not know if I am ok with having access to phones and internet, and I also am a little shaky on having people from different religions living together without anyone else.
Basically my idea is the same as what this website seems to be presenting. Live in solitude, farm, have animals, build with my own hands, enjoy a close community and avoid the weakness of living in a city. Don’t get my wrong I LOVE CHICAGO but I need to do something else.

Please e-mail me, I need some guidance as to what to do.

To Joe Kumley what you are looking for to run a generator off wood smoke is called a gasifier there’s lots of videos for that on youtube. I’m a country girl at heart, I had farm animals as a teenager and even though it was hard work I loved it had my own veggie garden also that my stepdad helped me with with him being a farmboy from Michigan. Learned a lot from him and his mom about taking care of animals and growing your own food. When I was a kid one of my friends had a brother that lived in a commune in the 60′s just a small farming commune where they harvested their own food raised chickens, goats, rabbits, cows, sheep, horses and pigs. They made their own candles I even remember they had a guy there who was a blacksmith I thought that was pretty neat when I was 8 yrs old. They were happy and healthy. Someday I’d like to get back to that…growing my own food, raising animals and preserving food by canning and drying it was a simple uncomplicated life.

it sounds like the Elysium fields or heaven. now if i could just get my husband sold on it. you would think he had problems with living poly or off grid or even it not being his own property but his issues are with the fact that the property is in Kansas…he hates the state. between the both of us we have all the knowledge needed. i would love to start our own OTG Eco-village. i wish it to be self propagating. meaning i would like to start from your home and end up on our own OTG home site, once we have the funds put aside to keep building.

We would love to live in a small community that is like our extended family. We are also Pagan and working on the poly part. A lot of people don’t understand this part of life. We do not want to change your religion or anyone elses. We just want to help out and live green and off the grid. We would like more info on everything.

Thanks again,

I find what your doing great. My mom, brother, and i have been unsuccessfully trying to live in nature for a while now.Other members of our family act like we are crazy for wanting to do this.A little over a year ago we purchased some off grid property only to find out that there were dangerous people that also lived in the area.So..living off grid can be scary in small groups.I love the idea of a community working together. We also love animals. Please let me know if this offer still stands..My email address is whyhuman2579@hotmail.com

I love Kansas and what you are doing. I am growing more weary everyday of what our society is becoming. The thought of being in a small community off grid and living simply and helping each other sounds better and better every day. I would certainly be willing to work hard with whatever need to be done. Please send me a little more info.
