I stumbled across this site trying to find a way to avoid spending $1400 on the materials for a wood stove chimney. One site states that wood stoves need a chimney and pellet stoves don't. If that is true, shouldn't that be a factor in a comparison of wood vs. pellet stoves?

Diesel space heaters.
http://www.pioneerspaceheaters.com/heaters.html
These require no electricity.
The smallest model provides 12,000 BTU at 0.12 gallons per hour!
The largest model provides 55,000 BTU at 0.55 gallons per hour.

Riley pellet stoves require no electricity BUT a 40 bag of pellets provides heat for only about 12 hours.
