Gordon Brown could care less about the environment
Become an activist

Citizen action in the UK takes many forms. Enough’s enough is a web based campaigning organisation responsible for many of the newspaper ads defending the environment you may have seen.

They could do with your help, support, and money. Their billboards and full-page newspaper pages are among the most memorable political advertising of all time – campaigning on issues like airport expansion, power stations, roads, the rights of minority groups such as Inuits. The picture is a detail from one of their ads from the fake organisation SPURT – whose slogan is “Screw global warming, let’s fly!”

The site quotes actor Josh Harnett: “remember nothing every happens if everybody leaves it to everybody else,”

And as it also reminds us quoting Ross Perot “The activist is not the man who says the river is dirty. The activist is the man who cleans up the river.”

So please, when you finished reading this – o out there and do something, however small, to help protect our environment from corporations/governments/big media. Stop buying newspapers, it only encourages them. Pick up litter, even if you didn’t drop it. Stop shopping and flying. Start enjoying the beauty around you.

Other quotes from the site:

”Once the last tree is cut and the last river poisoned, you will find you cannot eat your money.”
Joyce Mclean
Canadian writer 1860-1904

“I think the environment should be put in the category of our national security. Defence of our resources is just as important as defence abroad. Otherwise what is there to defend?”
Robert Redford.
