Even if you can’t live off-grid you can still unplug and go on holiday on an off-grid farm. Get the nitty-gritty off the grid experience, from relying on a solar power setup to tending a vegetable garden.

Drome

Brithdir Mawr is an off-grid farm in Wales. From September onwards, they’ll be offering accommodation to up to 6 volunteers, for 4 to 6 weeks, in exchange for work on the farm. You’ll get to do some weeding, empty the compost toilet, feed the ducks…

Paulianne Farm in France also welcomes visitors, either volunteers who want to help on the farm, or holiday-makers who want to relax and enjoy living off the grid. The farm is situated in the beautiful Drôme Valley, between Provence and the Alps. You can stay in their self catering gite, sleep in a wood cabin or, for a fully off-grid experience, lay your sleeping bag on the
floor of their yurt…
